teach me – but stay close

Secret #1: YOU PROBABLY DON’T NEED US EVERY DAY

You probably don’t need us every day. What you need is someone to set things up right, show you how to keep them that way, and catch the things you were never supposed to catch in the first place. Most day-to-day bookkeeping isn’t hard — it’s just hard when nobody’s ever shown you how, and your only training was guessing which category “Amazon Purchase” belongs in.

secret #2: YOUR BOOKS SHOULD TELL THE STORY OF YOUR BUSINESS

That’s the way I work. I’ll clean up your books, then teach you or your team the routine: entering transactions correctly, keeping bank feeds tidy, capturing receipts while you still remember what they were for. You handle the everyday. Then I step in monthly or quarterly as your safety net — reviewing everything, catching what slipped through, and making the adjustments that genuinely need a professional (that’s the part you shouldn’t DIY).

secret #3: Every transaction should tell a story

And here’s a cornerstone of my method: every transaction gets a real description. Not “POS DEBIT 4417 SQ *MERCH 8829XT” — an actual, human-readable note about what it was for and why. Bank feeds hand you a garbled mess of codes and truncated merchant names; I’ll show you how to turn that into books that tell the story of your business. Six months from now, when you (or your tax preparer, or a lender) look at a transaction, there’s no detective work — you’ll know exactly what it was. That’s the difference between data entry and actual bookkeeping.
